Because he could not free his arm , he stayed there for five days and hoped that someone would find him. But when his water 用完,he knew that he would have to do something 救his own life. Unit 3

I do not understand why some parents make their kids 帮助做家务 and chores at home. Kids these days already have enough 压力 from school. They don’t have time 学习 and do housework, too. Housework is 浪费时间. Could we just let them 做 their job 作为 students? They should spend their time on schoolwork为了 get good grades and get into 一所好大学. Also, when they get older, they will have to do housework so there is 没必要 for them to do it now. It is the 父母的job 提供 a clean and comfortable environment at home 为 their children. And 而且, I think 干杂活 is not so difficult. I don’ t mind做

them.

I think it is important for children to learn how 做杂活 and help their parents with housework, it is not enough 仅仅取得好成绩 at school. Children these days depend on their parents too much. They are always asking, “Could you get this for me?” or “Could you help me with that?” . Doing chores helps to 培养孩子的独立and teaches them how 照顾自己. It also helps them to understand 平等意识. 因为 they live in one house with their parents, they should know that everyone should 尽自己的职责 keeping it clean and tidy. Our neighbor’s son got into a good college but during his first year, he had no idea how 照顾自己. 结果, he often生病 and his grades 下降. 越早 kids learn to be independent, 越好 it is for their future.

Last month, our dog welcomed me when I 放学回家. He wanted a walk, but I was too tired. I 扔 down my bad and went into the living room. 当 I 坐 down in front of the TV, my mom 走过来. “Could you please take the dog for a walk?” she asked.

“could I watch one节目 first?” I asked. “No!” she replied 生气地. “You watch TV 一直 and never help out around the house! I can’t work all day and do housework all evening.” “Well, I work all day at school, too! I’m just 一样累 you are!” I shouted back.

My mom did not say anything and walked away. For one week, she didn’t do any housework and 我也没有做. Finally, I could not find a clean dish or a

clean shirt.

The next day, my mom came home from work 发现 the house clean and tidy.

“发生了什么?” she asked 惊讶地.

“I’m sorry, mom. I finally understand that we need to 分摊 the housework有 a clean and comfortable home,” I 回答道.

my problem is that I can’t 和睦相处 my family. 关系 between my parents have become difficult. They fight a lot, and I really don’t like it. It’s the 唯一的交流 they have. I don’t know if I should say anything to them about this. When they argue, it’s like a big, black cloud 笼罩在 our home. Also, my 年长的 brother is not very nice to me. He always refuses 让我 me watch my favorite TV show. 相反 he watches whatever he wants until late at night. I don’t think this is fair. At home I always 感到寂寞 and nervous. Is that normal? What can I do?

It’s not easy 在 your age, and it’s normal 有 these feelings. Why don’t you 谈论 these feelings with your family? If your parents are having problems, you should 主动help. Maybe you could do more jobs around the house 以便于 they have more time for 恰当的交流. Secondly, why don’t you sit down and communicate with your brother? You should 解释 that you don’t mind him 看 TV all the time. However, he should let you watch your favorite show. I 希望

things will be better for you soon.

These days, chinese children are sometimes busier on weekends than weekdays because they have to 上那么多的 after-school classes. Many of them are learning 考试技巧 so that they can get into a good high school and 之后 a good university. Others are practicing sports 以便于they can 参与竞争 and win. However, this doesn’t only happen in china.

泰勒一家 are a 典型的 amrican family. Life for cathy taylor’s three children is very busy. “在 most days after school,” cathy says,” I take one of my two boys to basketball 练习 and my daughter to football 训练. Then I 得 take my other son to piano lessons. Maybe I could 减掉 a few of their 活动, but I believe these activities are important for my children’s future. I really want them to be 成功.” However, the tired children don’t get home until after 7 p.m. they have a 快的 dinner, and then 该 homework.

Linda Miller, a mother of three, know all about 这种压力. “in some families, competition starts very young and 持续 until the kids getter older,” says she. “Mothers send their small kids to 各种各样的 classes. And they 总是比较 them with other children. It’s crazy. I don’t think it’s fair. Why don’t they just let their kids be kids? People shouldn’t 鞭策 their so hard.”

Doctors say 太多 pressure is not good for a child’s 成长. Dr. Alice Green says all these activities can 造成 a lot of stress for children. “kids should have time 放松 and think for themselves, too. Although it’s normal to want 成功的

children, it’s even more important to have happy children.”

Although the storm 破坏 many things支离破碎, it brought the families and neighbors 关系更近 together.
